Westlife
Westlife has not managed success in America,
although their debut single, "Swear It
Again" was a minor hit on mainstream radio
and MTV. Its video made MTV's TRL briefly,
and it managed to chart on the Billboard Hot
100 in the summer of 2000, going up to No.
20 on the chart.
Their debut American album was also released
in 2000, and although they have not released
another one there since, that has not
stopped thousands of Americans from becoming
Westlife fans. And beyond Europe and the
USA, Westlife's fan base is truly global,
including Canada, Latin America, Southeast
Asia, and Australia.
Like most other boy bands, Westlife is
primarily marketed to teenage girls, but
they have a large following among guys
(approximately 20% of Westlife fans are
male), and they have performed numerous
times at gay venues in the UK. On August 19,
2005, bandmember Feehily came out as gay to
the public, also announcing his relationship
with Kevin McDaid of former boyband V.
Although the band has enjoyed unprecedented
success in the UK singles chart, many
detractors argue it has been achieved by
releasing bland unmemorable ballads and
cover versions into a declining singles
market.
Shinhwa
The foremost and popular Korean pop music group, Shinhwa has released their new album "Hey, come on!" The sales figure of this album has reached 300,000 copies in only 3 days! When members of Shinhwa announced that they are going to pose naked in front of the camera for their coming photo album, the hype becomes uncontrollable! Coming back to "Hey, come on!" It is indeed a very solid album including the sounds of R&B, Hip Hop, Rap and Dance.
Rat Ratt 乐队t 乐队
Ratt
This heavy metal group formed in Los Angeles, California, USA, and featured Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Robbin Crosby (guitar), Warren DeMartini (guitar), Juan Croucier (bass) and Bobby 'The Blotz' Blotzer (drums). They evolved out of '70s band Mickey Ratt, transmuting into their present form in 1983, with a hint of pop about their brand of metal similar toCheap Trick or Aerosmith. They released a self-titled mini-album in 1983 on a local label, and struck up a close personal friendship with members of Mötley Crüe which no doubt helped them to sign to Atlantic the following year. They made their breakthrough with their first full album, OUT OF THE CELLAR, which stayed in the Billboard Top 20 for six months. They toured with Ozzy Osbourne before joining a Billy Squier jaunt where they were apparently 'thrown off' because they were more popular than the headline act. Their subsequent output has seen them follow a familiar heavy metal route with accusations over sexist videos contrasting with their ability to sell out concert halls and produce recordings that regularly received gold discs. Decimater featured several songs co-written with Desmond Child and proved their most adventurous recording to date, though Crosby would depart after RAT 'N' ROLL. In 1993 Pearcy unveiled his new outfit, Arcade, confirming the dissolution of the band.
